Everything you’ll need to make apple pie
  • 260 g self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 225 g butter
  • 300 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 apples (about 800 g)
  • 40 g brandy
  • 125 g milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the apples into 1 cm cubes. To prevent oxidation and browning, you can sprinkle them with a few drops of lemon juice and mix them.
  2. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and set aside.
  3. Grease and flour a 26 cm baking pan and set it aside.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top and bottom heat).
  5. In a bowl, combine the butter and sugar, and beat with a hand mixer at medium speed for 3-4 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Continue mixing while adding the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully absorbed into the mixture before adding the next. Beat for 1 minute to eliminate the eggy smell.
  7. Lower the mixer to a low speed, add half of the sifted flour with the baking powder, and mix for a few seconds until incorporated.
  8. Add the brandy, milk, cinnamon, and cloves, and mix for a few more seconds until the mixture is smooth.
  9. Stop the mixer and fold in the apples and remaining flour with a spatula until the flour disappears and the apples are evenly coated.
  10. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and place it on the lower rack of the oven.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for about 55 minutes, until the cake rises, turns golden, and pulls away from the sides of the pan. To ensure it’s fully baked, check the center with the blade of a knife.
  12. Remove the apple cake from the oven and let it sit in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, cut it into pieces after it has slightly cooled.
  13. Dust the apple pie with powdered sugar and cinnamon before serving.

Enjoy!
