The Greek Wine Association organized four wine-tasting events promoting Greek wine in the UK market over the past two weeks, as part of a three-year promotional program, designed and implemented by the association targeting key professionals in the British wine industry.
Attendees included leading British wine import companies as well as prominent retail companies.
Furthermore, sommeliers and beverage directors from distinguished British restaurants also participated in the tastings.
‘Enterprise Greece’ is the official state agency responsible for attracting investments and promoting exports of Greek wines in major international markets, in collaboration with industry institutions.
Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stressed that promotional activities carried out by the Greek Wine Association in the UK significantly improve the image of quality Greek wine, delivering tangible results such as an increase in exports to this crucial market.
“Such initiatives, based on strategic planning and involving top Greek wineries, deserve full support and visibility” Giannopoulos stated.
The wine association’s president emphasized the recent success, stating, “At a time when global wine consumption is declining, the value of Greek wine exports to the UK market has more than doubled in the last five years. The UK now ranks among the top four target markets for Greek wine, and the association is committed to continuing targeted promotional activities to maintain and grow its market share.”
The next campaign events, featuring 45 top wineries from every wine-producing region in Greece, will take place from 13 to 18 Oct. when distinguished UK professionals are set to visit Greek wine regions.
