The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) is recalling a brand of potato chips from the Greek market due to elevated concentrations of capsaicin, which could pose serious health risks to consumers.
Specifically, EFET has advised consumers to refrain from consuming the Hot Chip Challenge-3 gr, regardless of the batch, as the product contains high levels of capsaicin, which, as stated by EFET, may lead to nausea, high blood pressure, eye irritation, and irritation of mucous membranes.
Consuming extremely high levels of capsaicin (the compound that gives peppers their heat) can lead to severe gastrointestinal distress and potentially exacerbate existing health issues.
The Greek Food watchdog recently recalled a porcelain plate featuring Christmas decorations from the shelves of the Jumbo Toy Chain Store. The plate originating from China had been found to have increased levels of cadmium release. Breathing high levels of cadmium damages people’s lungs and could lead to death.
