The Kurdistan Region of Iraq is a safe area and aspires to become a hub for investment and entrepreneurship, said Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, speaking to Chief Editor of TO BHMA International Edition (tovima.com) Odin Linardatou at the Delphi Economic Forum X. He emphasized that stability in Iraq has improved significantly in recent years, and the Kurdistan government seeks to play a positive role both within the country and across the broader region.

Talabani noted the county possessed vast reserves of natural gas and oil, but its potential went far beyond that. He added that sectors such as agriculture, agritourism, industry, and mineral extraction had great potential while also referring to the educated and capable human capital.

Talabani pointed out that while the economy was currently reliant on oil and gas, the government’s goal is to pursue a meaningful transformation by strengthening and diversifying productive sectors while also working to improve living standards.

Regarding bilateral relations with Greece, the Deputy Prime Minister described the level of cooperation as excellent, underscoring the constructive dialogue between the two countries and adding that his region had a lot to learn from Greece’s experience in managing economic crises, as well as in the agricultural sector and tourism. “The direct air connection with Greece creates important opportunities for new commercial partnerships,” he stated.

When asked at the Delphi Economic Forum X about the participation of women in the new government of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, he confirmed that there will be significant representation.
