Greece’s meteorological organization EMY says that Monday will have generally clear weather in most parts of the country, with localized clouds only in the east (mainly in the Aegean).

Rain is anticipated in Crete and temporarily in Evia, the Cyclades, and the eastern Aegean. Light snowfall will occur in the mountainous areas of Crete.

Visibility will be locally limited in the western, central, and northern regions during the early morning and evening hours.

Winds in the western, central, and northern areas will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In other regions, northerly winds will prevail at 4 to 6 Beaufort, reaching up to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean.

Temperatures will rise, but frost is expected in places in the central and northern mainland during the morning hours. Temperatures will reach 12°C in the north, 13–14°C in the eastern mainland and the Aegean, and 15–16°C in western Greece.

The Days Ahead

Although the recent severe weather brought “white” Christmases to many parts of the country, meteorological models indicate an improvement in the weather in the coming days.

According to the latest forecasts, the New Year’s festive days are expected to feature sunshine rather than snow.

Specifically, as MEGA meteorologist Christina Rigou explained, the weather is expected to be mild both on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The first days of 2025 are forecast to be sunny, with temperatures rising to 14–17°C.

Seas will be calm, with winds at 3–5 Beaufort, shifting to southerlies starting Thursday.

However, the Epiphany long weekend is expected to kick off with rain. Showers are forecast for western Greece on Saturday, while Sunday will see unsettled weather in northern Greece and the islands of the eastern Aegean.
