Ingredients

  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1⅓ cups sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 vanilla extracts
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 100 grams orange juice
  • 130 grams vegetable oil
  • 100 grams grated couverture chocolate
  • Icing sugar
  • Cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C.
  2. Grease a cake pan and line the bottom and sides with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, vanilla extracts, and salt.
  4. Whisk to blend the ingredients.
  5. In another bowl, mix the water, orange juice, and vegetable oil.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  7. Gently mix until just combined.
  8. Add the grated chocolate and lightly stir with a spoon
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, until the cake pulls away from the sides of the pan and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing.
  12. Once cool, remove from the pan and sprinkle with icing sugar and cocoa powder before serving.
