Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine as soon as possible, speaking on Thursday from Paris after his attendance at an international summit meeting.
“Ukraine has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, which unfortunately, Russia has not agreed to yet,” Mitsotakis said, before calling for pressure on Moscow to end the conflict. He said an end to attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure is a prerequisite for Kiev to negotiate a just and viable peace.
Mitsotakis said assembled leaders discussed security guarantees, while certain countries may be interested in providing. The Greek leader underlined, however, that the most potent security guarantee of all is to strengthen the military of Ukraine.
At the same time, he said Greece was not prepared to send troops-cum-peacekeepers.
