MSC to Inaugurate Winter Cruises From Piraeus This Month

The MSC Sinfonia will depart the port of Piraeus every week, beginning on Nov. 18

MSC Cruises, one of the biggest operators in the sector worldwide, this week announced that it will inaugurate a winter cruise season in Greek waters, a first for the local market.

MSC will use the port of Piraeus, Greece’s largest, as its homeport for the winter cruises.

According to a press release by the company, the move is part of efforts to extend the cruise vacation period, and to take advantage of reduced arrivals at popular Grecian destinations in the Aegean, such as Santorini and Mykonos.

The MSC Sinfonia will depart the port of Piraeus every week, beginning on Nov. 18, 2024, with the vessel’s ports of call to include the Ionian Island of Corfu, the Italian port city of Bari on the Adriatic, Istanbul and Izmir in Turkey.

The development means that MSC cruise ship will ply Greek waters all-year round.
