Mini Holiday Season in Greece for Upcoming Orthodox Easter

Occupancy rates reach up to 90% domestically for accommodations open ahead of peak summer season

This coming Friday marks the annual two-week closure of schools for the Orthodox Easter holidays in Greece, a time when many families across the country make plans for a getaway.

Popular destinations, both domestically and abroad, are gearing up to welcome travelers for the Easter holidays.

Among the top choices in the country, at least for “well-heeled” travelers, are Santorini and Corfu.

Some of the popular destinations for Easter in the east Mediterranean country are:

• Santorini, in the southern Aegean Sea, is a favorite Easter destination for local holiday-makers, offering a 4-day stay starting from 380 euros per person, including accommodation & ferry tickets.

• Corfu, in the norther Ionian, attracts Easter holiday-makers every year. It’s a best-seller, with prices for 4 & 5 days starting from 250 euros per person, including accommodation & ferry tickets.

• Paros, in the Cyclades, offers stays starting from 270 euros per person, including accommodation & ferry tickets.

• Rhodes, the biggest and most popular island in the Dodecanese chain, always draws Easter holiday-makers, with a 6-day stay costing from 600 euros per person, including accommodation & flights.

• The Cyclades islands of Tinos and Serifos offer packages from 250 to 300 euros per person, including accommodation & ferry tickets.

• Chios, in the northern Aegean, offers packages ranging from 200 to 250 euros per person, including accommodation & ferry tickets.

• Nafpaktos, a coastal town in south-central mainland Greece, just a two-hour drive from Athens, is a more affordable option, with costs ranging from 150 to 200 euros per person for accommodation.

For those venturing abroad, the top destinations for Greeks include Paris, London, Vienna and Rome.

Occupancy rates reach up to 90% domestically during the peak Easter season in the country of the hotels and dwellings that are open this time of the year, as many tourism-related accommodations open in May for the summer season.
