The International Tourism Exhibition ITB in Berlin kicked off today with a notable Greek presence, showcasing the country’s tourism industry in full force.
With a focus on social equality and ecological responsibility, the event boasts nearly 5,000 exhibitors from 170 countries, drawing 24,000 participants globally across 25 pavilions.
Greece, with its largest delegation in recent years, takes center stage, occupying a 1,000 square meter pavilion hosting 85 exhibitors, including municipalities, regions, and tourism enterprises.
Among the attendees are Greek Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and Attica Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias, aiming to bolster tourism and extend the season. Attica prefecture encompasses the greater Athens-Piraeus area.
Meanwhile, leading German operators like TUI express optimism for Greece’s tourism. According to Susanne Stünkel from TUI, initial booking trends for the summer are strong, with high demand already seen for Crete and Rhodes in 2024. Corfu and Kos are also popular choices.
Additionally, other well-known Greek islands, like Samos, Zakynthos and iconic Santorini are at the forefront, especially among travelers who like to explore multiple destinations, fitting into TUI’s extensive tourist program, which covers 24 Greek regions and more than 4,500 hotels.
Moreover, Cyprus has a significant presence at ITB as well, with numerous Cypriot hotels and tourism companies in attendance. They aim to attract new clients and expand into emerging tourism markets.
