Hotel prices in Athens have shown a slight increase in Dec. of 2024 approaching the Christmas holiday season, compared to the same period last year, according to the Trivago’s Hotel Index (tHPI). However, Athens continues to rank low, third from the bottom, compared to its EU competitor cities.

This Dec. figure is far from Athens’ peak month of June, when average prices exceeded 200 euros, hitting 206 euros. Feb. marked the year’s low point for Athens, with an average price of 115 euros.

Barcelona averages 182 euros, marking a 5.20% increase from last Dec. but a notable 16.51% drop compared to the previous month. London leads with the highest average of 299 euros, while in Southern Europe, Madrid also crosses the 200 euros threshold, averaging 206 euros.
