Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni met with key representatives of the travel industry during her visit to Berlin for the major tourism fair ITB Berlin 2025.
In a statement released by the Tourism Ministry, Kefalogianni outlined Greece’s strategy for sustainable tourism development, receiving positive feedback on the strong potential of the Greek tourism sector.

During the event, the minister met with TUI’s representative, Tomas Ellerbeck, who informed her that Greece ranks second after Spain in bookings and is the fifth most popular destination globally among TUI customers. He also discussed new partnerships aimed at increasing tourism to Greece.
In a meeting with Lufthansa representative Dr. Kay Lindemann, the Greek tourism Minister confirmed that the new Heraklion airport will be completed by 2027 and highlighted Crete as a year-round destination. Discussions also covered increasing direct flights between Frankfurt and the islands of Kefalonia and Zakynthos to attract high-priority markets such as the United States.
Jet2holidays CEO Steve Heapy expressed the company’s intent to expand its presence in Greece and requested an immediate meeting in Athens to finalize an agreement.
In talks with DER Touristik representatives, including company president Felix Eichhorn, it was revealed that the company is heavily investing in the Greek market, achieving double-digit growth in bookings over recent years. Additionally, they informed the minister that their annual conference would be held in Rhodes.
Furthermore, in a meeting with AIDA Cruises—also attended by the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Ioannis Trepeklis—discussions focused on enhancing Corfu’s role as a homeport, strengthening local partnerships, and expanding cruise-related operations in the region.
