The survey was based on over 30,000 Google reviews

As the Easter holidays are winding up, and with summer in sight many Greeks and foreigners are already looking ahead to book their next escapades.

Digital market agency Tourix, which focuses on the Travel & Tourism industries, evaluated the best and worst Greek airports with the highest traffic based on Google user reviews.

The survey analyzed over 30,800 user reviews on Google’s platform for 2023, with some very insightful results emerging.

Notably, the airport of Samos has the most positive “perception” with a rating of 4.46 out of 5, followed by Mytilene Airport with a score of 4.45. Thessaloniki and Kavala airports follow closely with the users giving it on average a 4.39 rating.

The top five airports in Greece with the best ratings for 2023 also include Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” with a rating of 4.25 out of 5, slipping from the top spot in 2022.

In contrast, the 5 worst airports, according to Google’s user reviews were Heraklion Airport, consistently rated as the airport with the lowest grading in Greece in 2023, with a further decrease in its average rating compared to 2022, receiving a rating of 2.43 out of 5 (down from 2.69 in 2022).

The Chios airport follows as the second worst (3.07), with Kalamata Airport (3.08), Mykonos Airport (3.32), and Paros Airport (3.36) completing the top 5 worst.

2023 vs. 2022: Interesting Highlights

In comparison to 2022, Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” experienced a slight negative change in user rating in 2023 (4.26, down from 4.35 in 2022), which, however, cost it the first place it had taken in 2022 on the list of Greek airports with the highest rating.

To ensure the accuracy of the data, the study only included airports that received more than 145 reviews and served more than 250,000 passengers during the examined period.
