The Greek island of Andros has topped the list of best destinations for 2025, curated by the award-winning travel blog Where Life is Great.
The blog’s writer, Marta Ostoya, shared highlights from her visit to Andros, which was organized by the municipality and supported by the CTN Andros network of local businesses.
The blogger presented the island’s charm to her followers through her tours to “hidden” villages and exploration of unique caves. She also emphasizes the island’s unique natural landscape and dreamlike beaches.
“Who could have imagined that less than three hours from Athens lies a stunning destination offering unforgettable experiences, without the hassle of lengthy travel? Paradise is right next door,” she remarked.
In her extensive article, the blogger and photographer, who has traveled to 50 countries praised Andros for its traditional cobblestone streets, picturesque fishing villages, vast hiking trails, unique architecture, and signature local delicacies like ‘froutalia’, a traditional local omelet, and almond sweets.
She also highlighted the fact that the island is a suitable travel destination not only for the summer season but all year round.
Nikos Moustakas, Andros’s Municipal Tourism Officer stated that the municipality is implementing these initiatives in collaboration with professionals and organizations with aim to extend the tourism season. “This year’s statistics affirm our choices,” he commented.
It is worth noting that Andros’s inclusion in the prestigious list followed a detailed presentation to Marta Ostoya by the municipality’s delegation during the WTM 2024 international exhibition in London.
Apart from Andros the blog’s annual list also includes other remarkable locations such as Ronda in Spain, Aizu-Wakamatsu in Japan, Turin in Italy, Sri Lanka and Fraser Island in Australia among others.
