Crete, Ioannina, and Arachova are among the top domestic picks for Greeks for their Spring holiday, according to data released by Airbnb, while the same survey suggests a substantially larger number of Greek millennials choose to travel.
Airbnb also indicated that rooms were emerging as a favorite category among the platform’s users with Greeks being no exception. There was a steady rise in family trips, including Greek families or families based in Greece, as bookings for Spring vacations witnessed an increase of about 12% compared to last year.
In terms of vacations abroad, foreign cities remain a popular choice for Greek travelers, with European capitals and well-known cultural centers holding significant positions on our list of top destinations.
Among others, the most popular destinations for Greeks traveling abroad this spring are Istanbul, Dubai, and Frankfurt, followed by Rome, Berlin and Warsaw.
Spring Trips: Favorite Destinations
Domestically, searches for spring vacations in Greece saw a rise of about 33%, while there is also an increase of about 41% in couples going on spring trips. Domestic destinations continue to be among the favorites, while among the top trends for spring trips by Greeks include, Rethymno, Karpenisi, Ioannina and Kastoria.
