Around half of European hoteliers said that listing their property on digital platforms was the most effective tool for increasing their occupancy numbers, according to a survey by the Fall 2023 European Accommodation Barometer.
Offering targeted discounts to their customers came a close second, as 49% of the respondents agreed it was also an impactful means of boosting the number of bookings in their accommodations.
Meanwhile, some less popular tools and investments included partnerships with bed banks – agreements with travel agents, tour operators, airlines, and loyalty membership programs- popular with just 21%.
The study, the third of its kind, of hoteliers was conducted by Statista in collaboration with Booking.com, surveying accommodation executives and managers from across Europe. It included a series of other insights regarding the recovery of European tourism and the sentiment of EU hoteliers.
