The reactivation of LOT Polish Airlines with daily Athens-Warsaw flights from today, April 11, is anticipated to significantly boost Polish tourism in Greece, aiming for a new record after a decade-long absence.
Tourists from Poland hold a high regard for Greece as a destination, ranking it third in their holiday preferences and overall travel abroad.
According to Statistics Poland, the primary motivation for traveling abroad is vacations followed by visiting friends and relatives, and business trips.
During a press conference, Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications and Marketing at Athens International Airport, emphasized that the Polish market is among the top 20 main markets for the Greece’s largest airport.
“The launch of LOT Polish Airlines’ services and the year-round Athens-Warsaw flights mark a major milestone. The notable growth of Polish arrivals at our airport in the first quarter of this year compared to last year highlights the promising development prospects of this market.” Said Papadopoulou.
Specifically, according to available data, arrivals from the Polish market have significantly increased during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
In addition to the Greek capital, however, the airline has been connecting Aktion National Airport, in western Greece, with Poland year-round since last year. Furthermore, their aim is to add more Greek destinations to their network.
