The island of Kalymnos, situated in the southeastern Aegean and relatively less familiar among Greek islands, is touted to provide the most affordable holiday packages in Europe, as per the Consumer Observer, as reported by the British Sun.
The English consumer watchdog organization analyzed more than 4,500 organized vacations in 15 European countries, comparing prices during the first week of August to find the cheapest deals.
Kalymnos, a slightly lesser-known island for foreign tourists in the Mediterranean, has claimed the top spot.
Part of the island complex of the Dodecanese, this tiny island hosts secluded beaches and crystal-clear waters.
Pothia, the capital of the island, boasts the most competitively priced resort on the island, with vacations costing 927 euros for the first week of August.
Despite remaining relatively untouched by hordes of holidaymakers, there are plenty of things to do on the island, including choosing from 15 beaches to explore.
Thanks to its location, it’s perfect for island hopping to the nearby islands of Kos, Leros, and Patmos.
The island famous for its rocky landscape has shaped up to be a top climbing destination and already counts many climbing clubs.
What’s more, the International Climbing Festival takes place every year in Kalymnos, attracting climbers from all over the world.
In the ranking, two more Greek islands, with Thasos in the northern Aegean Sea taking second place behind Kalymnos, offering packages at 1006 euros per person.
Following closely, Lefkada in the Ionian Sea claims third place, with vacations priced at 1092 euros per person.
Costa Brava in Spain secures the fourth spot, with packages costing 112 euros per person, and Malta, positioned in tenth place, maintains prices below 1168 euros per person.
