“Can we have some more of Ios, please?” asks the author of the UK newspaper The Sun at the end of their recent travel article praising the Homeric Cycladic island.

Enchanted by the youthful atmosphere and positive energy of Ios, the author who visited the island last summer upon the invitation of the Municipality of Ios, acknowledges the efforts made to develop and highlight other interesting features of the destination. Despite the vibrant nightlife and beautiful parties, the article notes that Ios maintains its cleanliness.

According to the journalist, the gastronomy, alternative activities, festivals, marine tourism, hiking trails, and intriguing historical landmarks, such as the tomb of Homer and the early Bronze Age settlement of Skarkos, offer exceptional experiences.

The Sun suggests that Ios is no longer just a magnet for the young but has become an ideal place for families with young children, couples in love, nature lovers, hikers, off-peak season travelers, and “empty nesters.” It is full of energy, with an aim to enhance this renewal feeling by developing different specialized forms of tourism, culture, and sports events.

“The significant increase in visitation during off-peak months like May, June, September, and October confirms that we are on the right track,” stated Antonis Mettos, the president of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Ios.

Simultaneously, with a view to the upcoming season and international media exposure, the Municipality of Ios seeks to inspire destination enthusiasts through a new video showcasing the events of the recent Ios Festival,  including concerts, art events, music, dances, and exhibitions.
