The opening ceremony of the 45th International Tourism Exhibition took place on Wednesday night in Belgrade, with Greece being this year’s “Partner Country”. The exhibition was inaugurated by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Greek Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni.
“Our nations’ friendship is rooted in our shared history, cultural ties, struggle for freedom, and aspirations for a secure future,” noted Kefalogianni in her speech emphasizing the importance of collaboration in tourism for the economic development and prosperity of both countries.
Furthermore, Olga Kefalogianni stressed the importance of the Belgrade International Tourism Exhibition as a key regional event, offering countries and participants the chance to promote tourism, foster communication, collaboration, and forge partnerships, embodying the essence of tourism.
President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia highlighted that Greece is a popular tourist destination for Serbians, also noting the significant increase in visits by Greeks to Belgrade and other tourist destinations in his country in recent years.
Today, the Greek minister will meet with her Serbian counterpart, Husein Memić, to discuss the possibilities and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
On wednesday, Kefalogianni had presented Greece’s and the Ministry of Tourism’s initiatives actively promoting the agenda of sustainable tourism development at the informal meeting of EU Tourism Ministers held in Belgium, with the main topic being the ensuring of the resilience of the tourism ecosystem.
