The Port of Piraeus, Greece’s largest, was named “Ferry Shipping Port of the Year 2024” during the two-day European Ferry Shipping Summit held in Athens last week.

The award goes to the Piraeus Port Authority SA (PPA SA) – majority owned by China Cosco Shipping – for its coastal shipping services and was presented during a special ceremony on the sidelines of the event.

The port authority attributed the performance to ongoing investments in port infrastructure upgrades and modernization particularly with a focus on cruise and ferry shipping services.
