Holders of social tourism vouchers in Greece can take advantage of this year’s Easter break by enjoying subsidized holidays of up to six nights at one of 1,444 participating tourist accommodations.

The program, managed by the country’s Public Employment Service (DYPA), allows beneficiaries to book their stay directly with the business of their choice from the official registry.

In a recent announcement, DYPA highlighted special provisions for specific regions. Beneficiaries staying in accommodations located on the islands of Leros, Lesvos, Chios, Kos, and Samos are eligible for up to 10 nights with zero personal contribution.

The social tourism initiative’s provisions are even more generous for accommodations in Northern Euboea (Evia), Magnesia, Karditsa, Larissa, Trikala, and Evros offering up to 12 nights completely free of charge.

Beyond lodging, the program also covers ferry tickets. Voucher holders are responsible for just 25% of the ferry fare, while people with disabilities (PWDs) travel for free.

Higher Subsidies for the Holiday Season

For participating tourism businesses, subsidy rates are increased by 20% during the Easter period running from April 11 to April 27, 2025, according to DYPA. This elevated rate is in place year-round for accommodations in Northern Euboea, Evros, and Thessaly, however, excluding the Sporades islands in the Aegean.

The 2024–2025 social tourism program runs through June 30, 2025, and is considered one of the most comprehensive in recent years. It offers minimal to zero costs for beneficiaries and higher payouts for providers, making it an attractive option for both travelers and tourism operators.
