The Cyclades island of Paros, located in the heart of the Aegean, has been ranked as among the top three summer destinations worldwide by the US magazine Forbes.
According to the publication, Paros is currently a quieter alternative to Greece’s more touristy islands, but it is rapidly developing and gaining fame.
Included in Condé Nast Traveller’s ’24 Best Places to Go in 2024,’ the island often attracts celebrities like Tom Hanks and Jeff Bezos, who have been spotted enjoying its blue waters and idyllic landscapes.
Forbes highlights that some of the best activities on the island include visiting its tiny sister island of Antiparos for peaceful, unspoiled beaches, indulging in local seafood dishes and exploring ancient ruins.
The article also mentions the recent opening of new luxury hotels such as Cove Paros and Avant Mar, and notes that access is easier than ever with airlines like Saudia, Etihad Airways, and British Airways now flying to the Cyclades.
Following the idyllic island of Paros, the US publication ranks the Indian island nation of Mauritius and large Sri Lanka, also in the Indian Ocean, south of India.
The US travel company Expedia Group last autumn also included Paros in its “Top 3”.
The list was part of the company’s comprehensive guide to travel trends, called “Unpack ‘24”, the result of first-party travel data collected from 20,000 Expedia users through 2023.
Previously, the island served as a the backdrop of the Netflix series ‘One Day’. Filming took place in September 2022 at picturesque Santa Maria beach and other locations serving as backdrops in the fourth episode of the series.
The latter was derived from a bestselling novel by David Nicholls, which later became a film featuring Anne Hathaway.
