Award-winning travel blog “7 Continents, 1 Passport” placed the islands of Crete and Naxos among the top five alternative vacation destinations in Greece for 2024, following evaluations submitted by its Spanish-speaking readers.

The author of the list, who has explored 50 countries and recently visited Naxos at the Municipality’s invitation, described the Cyclades’ largest and greenest island as preserving its unique authenticity, blending whitewashed cubic houses with medieval Venetian fortresses.

Naxos, according to the blog, is blessed by ancient gods with fertility  and resembles an expansive and impressive garden teeming with local products.

Emphasizing the charm of Cretan culture, the journalist highlighted that “Cretan hospitality epitomizes Greece, with locals always finding cause for celebration and festivity.”

The list also features the Peloponnese’s captivating landscapes, Greece’s therapeutic hot springs, and sea excursions to exotic islets and unexplored shores in the Aegean and Ionian Seas.

Vangelis Katsaras, Deputy Mayor of Tourism for the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, expressed, “We aim to expand into markets beyond ‘traditional’ Europe and enhance visitors’ daily experiences on the island with more diverse activities.”
