British Travelers Put Greece in Top 5 Favorite Destination

The ABTA survey focused on the vacation habits of the British for the 2024–25 season and was based on a sample of 2,000 people.

Greece has broken the top 5 most popular destinations list for British travelers, according to a report by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

The ABTA survey focused on the vacation habits of the British for the 2024–25 season and was based on a sample of 2,000 people.

Over 80% of holidaymakers from Britain traveled in 2024, remaining unchanged from last year. Notably, Greece entered the top five most popular destinations.

British travelers took an average of 3.94 holiday trips (both abroad and within the UK), compared to 3.42 the previous year, narrowly surpassing the previous high of 3.91 trips recorded before 2019. Additionally, British travelers this year made more trips abroad, with an average of 1.7 trips per person, up from 1.45 trips the previous year.

Families and individuals under the age of 35 were the most active travelers, with young people aged 18-24 making an average of 5.33 trips, those aged 25-34 making 6.43 trips, and families with children over five going on holiday 5.32 times during this period.

The ABTA report, presented during an annual conference in Kalamata, Peloponnese, showed that the lockdown during the pandemic and the subsequent travel restrictions most likely contributed to a rise in the number of holidays taken by young families over the past two years.
