The target for tourism and travel revenues for 2025, as listed in the draft budget tabled by the Greek government last week, has been set at 22.5 billion euros.

This target-cum-projection comes hot on the heels of forecasts that the corresponding revenues for the current year will end up around the 21.5-billion-euro mark, according to a report published on ot.gr last Thursday.

If the end-of-the-year tallies confirm this, then Greece’s all-important tourism and travel sector will have posted a third consecutive record-breaking figure. Last year, 2023, saw 20.5 billion euros in travel revenues.

The last month for which provisional statistics were collected, September 2024, shows the number of arrivals up 2.7% compared to the same month in 2023, and overnight stays up 3.4%. In absolute numbers, this equates to over 5.024 million arrivals and 22.97 million overnight stays over the month.
