Wizz Air’s study reveals the top 20 European cities for solo travelers, with Rhodes, Greece, taking the lead. The rankings are based on 2023 Tripadvisor reviews for restaurants and attractions tagged ‘solo travelers’. The highest-scoring city from each country made the list.
1 First on the list is the Greek City of Rhodes, boasting a 76% five-star rating from solo-traveler reviews. The city’s attractions garnered 79% five-star reviews, while its restaurants scored impressively with 73% perfect ratings.
2 Split secures the second spot with a 73% five-star reviews. Notably, 81% of the Croatian city’s attractions received top reviews, while restaurants earned a commendable 66% perfect ratings.
3 Sharing the third place are Faro, Portugal and Istanbul, Turkey, with both cities receiving five-star reviews of 67%. The city of Faro garnered the majority of its five-star reviews (74%) for its attractions. While in Istanbul the restaurants received best reviews at 71%
4 In fourth place is Florence, Italy, scoring 66% at the five-star level. The city’s attractions got top performance reviews at 77%.
5 London, UK comes in fifth with an overall score of five-star ratings at 63%.
6 Reykjavik, Iceland and Seville, Spain jointly share the sixth place as the best destinations for solo travelers in Europe scoring a 62% on the five-star reviews.
7 The cities of Valletta, Malta and Nice, France are found at seventh place scoring 60% five-star reviews for solo traveling according to Wizz Air.
8 In the eighth spot is Lucerne, Switzerland. The city scored a 59% on five-star reviews.
9 Varna, Bulgaria along with Riga, Latvia share the ninth position with 58% five-star reviews.
10 Three destinations share the tenth place Bruges, Belgium, Kaunas, Lithuania and Krakow, Poland with 57% of reviews being five-star.
11 Bucharest in Romania takes the eleventh place with an overall score of 55% in five-star reviews.
12 The cites of Prague, Czech Republic, Budapest, Hungary and Roosendaal, Netherlands rank twelfth on the list receiving 54% five-star reviews.
Andras Rado, corporate communications manager at Wizz Air, stated to the Daily Mail that ‘One of the most reliable ways for travelers to gain information about the realities of traveling to a destination is through the experiences of other travelers that have been there before, which is why we know the importance of basing our ranking on reviews left by prior solo-travelers to ensure that these cities have the most to offer those jetting off alone.’
