Supporters gathered outside the Seoul Detention Center, celebrating the ruling and demanding Yoon’s immediate release
Ever since failing to impose martial law on December 3, South Korea’s impeached president Yoon has been evading arrest. A failed arrest attempt was carried out last Friday, but ended in a standoff at his presidential residence.
According to Reuters, hundreds of Yoon 's supporters gathered outside the presidential compound in the early hours, pledging to prevent his arrest.
Public sentiment remains deeply critical of Yoon, whose approval ratings have languished at around 20% for months. Protests have intensified, with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions calling for a nationwide strike until Yoon resigns.
