According to the World Rowing Championship organization’s website, Greece’s victory over Great Britain in the women’s double sculls is considered to be a “massive upset”.
The 2024 World Rowing Championship Under 19 is the top event of the year for Under 19 flat-water rowers, according to the event organizers.
This year, the 2024 Senior, Under 23 and Under 19 World Rowing Championships was a combined event, taking place 18 – 25 August in St. Catharines, Canada.
The wins for Greece come on the heels of the men’s and women’s lightweight double sculls teams taking home two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics.
The two-man crew of Petros Gkaidatzis and Antonis Papakonstantinou, and the female crew of Dimitra Kontou and Zoi Fitsiou picked up the bronzes.
