Spain defeated England 2-1 in the UEFA European Football Championship final in Germany on Sunday evening. After a mostly uneventful first half with both teams playing cautiously, the Spaniards opened the score at the start of the second half (47′) with a beautiful strike by Nico Williams.
England managed to equalize in the 73rd minute with Cole Palmer who came off the bench. Mikel Oyarzabal provided the final dagger scoring 4 minutes from time to give Spain the trophy.
This is Spain’s 4th UEFA European Football Championship title making them the most successful in Europe. England, who has never won a Euro, was once again runners-up in the top European national football tournament. In the previous tournament held in England, the team lost to Italy in the 2020 final on penalties.
