Olympiacos FC has announced an impressive list of events over the next 72 hours to commemorate the beloved sports club’s centennial, as the club was founded on March 10, 1925.

The current season is historic for the Olympiacos organization, as March 10, 2025, marks a century since its foundation: A century joy, successes and numerous titles and distinctions in Greece and Europe.

During a press conference on Tuesday at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, Olympiacos FC officials detailed the events to commemorate the 100-anniversary – which begin on Saturday and continue through Monday, March 10, the date that Olympiacos was founded in 1925.

Olympiacos FC vice-president and General Director Kostas Karapapas and ticketing director Panagiotis Badounas spoke at the press conference.

Karapapas underlined that commemorative events will not be confined to Sunday’s game between Olympiacos and OFI Crete, March 9, and will include participation by other institutions as well, such as the Municipality of Piraeus and others.

“Allow me to outline what we’re going to do on Sunday, for which we want our fans’ participation. We need our fans at all the events planned, because the events are happening for our fans, and it’s the fans’ love that returns to us. We feel that our fans are close to the club at this time, and this is something that is very gratifying. It’s a perfect time to see our team playing with Olympiacos’ DNA and style. We love to see our team play with passion and a commitment to everything that this club stands for.”
Karapapas said a theme park will be set up outside the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on Saturday and Sunday – game day – for families and children, similar to the ones seen during the finals of the Champions League and Europa League, such as inflatable football pitches, castles and other activities for the young.

Saturday’s events will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m., and again on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., as the match against OFI begins at 7 p.m.

Stadium illuminated

The Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium will be illuminated throughout the three-day period, with the club’s trophies on display at the stadium over the weekend as well, including the European “Silverware”.

Fans that didn’t get a chance to pose in front of the trophies at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus or during a tour of the latter throughout Greece, will have another opportunity over the weekend at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

Additionally, commemorative season ticket cards and coupons will be available on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the stadium’s ticket booths. Holders of electronic season ticket cards will now have the chance to receive an actual card in their hands.

“As you know, in the historic match against OFI on the 9th this month comes a day before our birthday. We are all trying, and there shouldn’t be even one empty seat, because every seat will contribute to creating a huge choreo, one that has never been done before. It will be all over the stadium, even in the VIP section. We’re going to do something very impressive, I believe. Whenever something like this has been done at this stadium it’s been impressive and successful,” Karapapas said.

Commemorative uniform

Olympiacos’ players will also wear a special commemorative uniform for the specific game – kit designed in cooperation with adidas.

The collector’s edition jersey will feature adidas’ 1972 logo, which the multinational has licensed only to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, Arsenal and Olympiacos to wear this season.

The uniform will be available for fans, beginning on Saturday.

The club has also called on the team’s fans around the world to illuminate their homes, town squares and spaces in any way they choose, creating a “magical” image in Piraeus and the greater Athens area – a fitting tribute for Olympiacos’ 100th birthday, the biggest multi-sport organization in Europe.

Olympiacos Stamps

On Monday, the actual anniversary of Olympiacos’ founding, a special commemorative stamp collection will be circulated, honoring the club and the 100-year anniversary.

The stamp collection will be unveiled during a special ceremony, with the commemorative stamps featuring the laurel-crowned youth and the title “100 Years Olympiacos”, with the first day’s circulation stamps contained in a special collector’s envelope.

The commemorative stamp collection will also be available on the website philotelismos.gr

On Monday, March 10, at exactly 19:25 local time, a spectacular drone show will take place at the port of Piraeus, visible from every corner of the municipality and from the surrounding high points of the greater Athens area.

Three hundred drones will create impressive formations for 12 minutes, visible in the nighttime sky over Piraeus.

Documentary in the works

Olympiacos’ officials also announced that a documentary film on the team’s history is also in the works with a well-known British production house.

“For the past three and a half years we’ve been working on the 100-year anniversary. We’ve been discussing an unbelievable and legendary history, with 47 championships, Cups, Doubles, unique victories, and we have to think about how all this legendary history will reach a climax. As we were thinking about which championship season to prioritize, as well as which decade, then came history, life, football to decide for Olympiacos, meaning that just before our birthday we achieved our own peak, with the two European championships at men’s and youth level: It was a football miracle,” Karapapas said.

Finally, team officials announced that Olympiacos, in cooperation with MediaPro Exhibitions, is preparing a museum in Piraeus to serve as Olympiacos’ “cradle”, “where different generations can learn what Olympiacos is, pass it on and continue to expand the legend.”
