Greek athlete Elina Tzengko qualified on Wednesday for the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics.
The 22-year-old Tzengko hurled the javelin to a distance of 63.22 meters, achieving the fifth-best performance out of 12 in Wednesday’s qualifier and achieving a personal best.
Tzengko will compete again on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 20:30 p.m. (Athens time).
On Tuesday, 26-year-old Miltos Tentoglou made history winning Greece’s first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games with his super 8.48-meter leap and becoming the first athlete after four-time winner Carl Lewis to retain the Olympic long jump title.
Greece is currently in 29th spot in the Paris Olympic medal tally with a total of seven medals so far: one gold, one silver, and five bronze.
The US, China, and Australia were the top three medal-winning countries on Day 11 of the Paris Olympics.
