Antetokounmpo Leads Greece to Acropolis Tournament Victory Ahead of Paris 2024 Qualifiers

The “Greek Freak” put up 15 points from 5 of 6 shots, and grabbed 5 rebounds in just 15 minutes on the floor

The Greek men’s national basketball team is gearing up for the 2024 Olympics tournament qualifiers in its mission to secure one of the four open slots for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo donned the blue and white jersey and appears to be finding his pace on coach Vassilis Spanoulis’s squad, as the “Greek Freak” put up 15 points from 5 of 6 shots, and grabbed 5 rebounds in just 15 minutes on the floor.

Greece comfortably beat the Bahamas 102-75 in Piraeus at the Acropolis tournament ahead of its official qualifying match on the road to Paris against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.

After Euroleague champion and MVP Kostas Sloukas dropped out of the team due to injury, playmakers Nick Calathes and Thomas Walkup made up for his absence and shared the ball excellently, putting up 20 of the team’s 38 assists in the game against the Bahamas.

All 12 players who stepped on the court scored, with Dinos Mitoglou leading with 18 points.

Other NBA stars like this year’s NBA finalist Luka Doncic are also preparing to help their national teams reach the Paris Olympics Basketball tournament.

Greece will play against Egypt and Puerto Rico in group B of the 2024 FIBA Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
