PAOK FC was crowned champions of the Greek Super League after beating city-rivals Aris 2-1 away from home on Sunday night and will enter the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds next season.

This is the fourth title for the Thessaloniki “Black and Whites” in their history in Greece’s top-tier football league.

PAOK edged out defending champions AEK Athens who came in second despite beating Lamia 3-0 at home.

The Thessaloniki club managed to hold on to victory although it was left with 10 men for the last 20 minutes after Michailidis was sent off.

Olympiakos was impressive finishing above a disappointing Panathinaikos who led the race for most of the season after the Reds came back from a 2-goal deficit to snatch a draw (2-2) against their arch-rivals in the latter’s ground. Aris finished fifth and Lamia sixth.
