Greek long-jump Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou has been included in the Men’s Field Athlete of the Year 2024 awards. As announced by the World Athletics Federation, the two-time Olympic gold medalist will compete against four other nominees:

Ryan Crouser (USA): The world record holder won his third straight Olympic title in shot put, the first man to do so in that event. He also won world indoor gold in Glasgow in March, his first world indoor title.

Jordan Alejandro Díaz Fortún (ESP): In addition to winning his first Olympic title in triple jump, the Cuban-born Spaniard Díaz’s 18.18m jump at the European Championships in June is the world-leading mark.

Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis (SWE): The Swede broke his own pole vault world record not once but three times this year, raising the bar from 6.23m to 6.26m via Xiamen, the Olympic Games final in Paris, and Chorzów. It’s been a strong year from the Swede, who holds the top eight clearances of 2024 and recently got engaged to girlfriend Desiré Inglander.
Ethan Katzberg (CAN): The hammer throw world champion added Olympic gold to his list of achievements with a mammoth 84.12m throw in Paris. The Canadian also holds the world lead for the season, having thrown 84.38m in Nairobi at the Kip Keino Classic in April.

Before picking up his second gold medal, only the second in the event to defend his Olympic title after legendary Carl Lewis, Tentoglou also added world indoor gold to his collection back in March. The Greek long jumper is also the world leader, having soared to 8.65m at the European Championships.

The public will have a say in the winner, as it will have the right to vote for their favorite athlete through social media (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram) until October 20th. Their vote will influence the final result by 25%.
