Olympiacos U19, the reigning European Champions, secured a berth in the UEFA Youth League round of 16 in their campaign to defend their title after defeating Spanish Girona, thanks to a stunning goal by Stavros Pneumonidis in the 70th minute.

The draw for the next stage will take place on February 14, with the knockout match scheduled for March 4-5.

The Piraeus teenagers put on a dominant display on the pitch for most of the match and could have scored more goals. Goalkeeper Giorgos Kouraklis played a crucial role, coming on in the 40th minute to replace the injured Georgakopoulos and making key saves in the second half. This marks another major qualification for Olympiacos U19, as they aim to defend their Youth League title.

Head coach Romain Pitau and his players achieved their goal against Girona and now await the draw to determine their next opponent and potential path to the Final Four in Nyon. Last season, Olympiacos U19 made history by winning the prestigious trophy, bringing joy and pride to the club’s supporters.

The draw for the Round of 16 will be held on Friday, February 14, while the knockout matches will take place on March 4 and 5.

Last year, Olympiacos U19 beat European heavyweights AC Milan 3–0 at the tournament’s final in Nyon, Switzerland.
