Greek businessman and Olympiacos FC owner Evangelos Marinakis steps in a president of Super League Greece.
Marinakis takes over from Minas Lysandrou clinching the majority vote during elections on Wednesday.
Panathinaikos owner Giannis Alafouzos was also a candidate for the position.
Marinakis previously served as Super League president from June 2022 to January 2024 when he stepped down succeeded by Lysandros.
Earlier this week, Greek football club Olympiacos’ historic victory over Fiorentina in the UEFA Europa Conference League final last month featured on the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square in New York.
Formed in 2006, Super League Greece is the highest professional association football league in the country. As of May 2024, Super League Greece ranks 15th in the UEFA leagues ranking.
On May 29, 2024 Olympiacos FC was the first Greek footbal team to win a European club title beating Fiorentina 1-0 in the Europa Conference League Final in Athens.
