Following a thrilling victory over Scotland at Hampden Park on Sunday, March 23, Greece’s national football team learned its final opponent for the World Cup qualifying group on Sunday night. Denmark, having been eliminated by Portugal in the Nations League quarterfinals, will join Greece in the group stage.

This means Greece will compete against Denmark, Scotland, and Belarus in the qualifiers. While the group presents its challenges, the Greek squad has shown it has what it takes to secure a spot in the tournament.

The Road to Qualification

Under the current qualification format, the top 12 teams from the groups will advance directly to the World Cup. The remaining four spots will be determined through playoffs. These playoffs will feature the second-placed teams from each group, along with the four best Nations League group winners who did not qualify directly.

A total of 16 teams will enter the playoff stage, divided into four groups. The winners of these knockout matches will claim the final four European tickets to the World Cup.
