Greece’s Emmanouíl Karalis picked up the bronze medal on Monday for the pole vault competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, jumping a near-best 5.90 meters.
First place when to the incredible Swedish-American world record-holder Armand Duplantis, who cleared the 6.25-meter mark in his last jump to set a new world record – and thus beating his own previous 6.24-meter record. Duplantis’ record-breaking effort electrified the crowd at the Paris Olympic stadium and fans around the world.

He was followed by American Sam Kendricks, who picked up the silver medal, with a jump of 5.95 meters.
Karalis’ third-place showing is the 31st medal won by Greek athletes in track and field events, and the 128th overall since the first modern Olympics in 1896.
