Greece Revs Up for 2024 EKO Rally Acropolis This Week

The 2024 EKO Rally Acropolis will run from September 5-8, 2024 in Greece and 72 cars will compete through 15 routes over 305 km.

Greece is gearing up for the 2024 EKO Rally Acropolis, which will be held in the country this week from Thursday to Sunday, September 5-8, 2024.

The EKO Rally Acropolis is considered to be a classic event of the annual global motor racing event the FIA World Rally Championship, and this year’s race will see 72 cars participating through 15 routes that cover 305 km, according to a post on X by the organizers.

The Route

The 2024 EKO Rally Acropolis announced previoulys that the route for this year’s race will be different than in the past. Essentially, race organizers have reversed the order of the route in comparison to 2023.

This year, the ceremonial start to the race will happen in the central Greece region of Lamia on Thursday evening, September 5 at 19:00.

Participants will travel through the Sterea Ellada (south-central mainland) region of Greece to the Peloponnese, through the Attica prefecture, and back to  the city of Lamia, which is the reverse order of 2023.

The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8 in Lamia in the afternoon.

About the Race

This year is the 52nd round of the FIA World Rally Championship, which is organized by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and WRC Promoter GmbH.

Cars must compete in cars complying with Rally1- to Rally5 regulation but only Rally1 cars will score points in the championship.

The 2024 season is planned to have 13 rounds, held in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia.

The EKO Rally Acropolis is the 10th round of the race, which will ultimately conclude this year in late November in Japan.

The Acropolis Rally has been the focal point for motor sports racing in Greece for more than half a century.
