Greece’s national basketball team, two-time Eurobasket champions, on Friday secured qualification for FIBA EuroBasket 2025 by outlasting a tough Czech side 89-93 in overtime.
The game, played in the Czech city of Pardubice, was the fifth in Group F of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, with a sixth and last game against the Netherlands incapable to affect Greece’s qualification.
The performance in the qualification round marks the team’s 29th overall appearance in the European competition. The “Blues” will be appearing in their 18th consecutive EuroBasket, in fact.
The Greek national team were crowned European champions in 1987 and 2005, and runners-up in 1989. Greece have registered eight top four results since 1987.
