Don’t let the calendar fool you—Monday is bringing winter back for an encore! Get ready for a wild mix of rain, storms, cold winds, and yes… even snow in some parts of Greece.

Rain will start early in the west, north, and eastern Aegean, and gradually spread across most of the country. Expect heavy showers in Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, the Sporades, Evia, and islands in the northeastern Aegean. Thunderstorms are likely, especially in the northeast during the morning hours.

And for the snow lovers: Snowfall is expected in central and northern mountainous and semi-mountainous areas—and even in lower elevations in parts of Macedonia and Thrace. The weather will start calming down after midday, especially in the northwest.

Winds? Strong and chilly!
Northern and northwesterly winds will blow at 4–6 Beaufort, reaching 7 in the seas. Hold on to your hats if you’re near the coast!

Temperatures are dropping fast:

  • Western Macedonia: -3°C to 7°C
  • Rest of Macedonia & Thrace: 3°C to 13°C
  • Thessaly: 4°C to 12°C
  • Ionian Islands: 8°C to 14°C
  • Crete: 9°C to a surprisingly warm 24°C!

Athens: Cloudy skies with light rain. Winds from the north up to 6 Beaufort, temperatures between 8°C and 14°C.

Thessaloniki: Overcast with rain, possible thunderstorms, and snow in surrounding hills during the morning. Temperatures from 5°C to 12°C, with moderate northerly winds.
