Sunshine and high temperatures expected across Greece, with authorities on high alert for wildfires

As Greece’s most recent heatwave continues, sunshine and high temperatures are expected across most of the country and the risk of wildfires remains high.

In the mainland regions, particularly in Western and Central Greece, expect a mix of scattered clouds and intervals of sunshine.

Longer periods of clear skies will prevail in the rest of the country and there is a slight chance of local showers.

Temperatures will range from 36-38°C in the north, 33-36°C in Crete and the islands, and 36-38°C in other parts of the country.

Winds will blow from the northwest at 4-5 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea, while in the Aegean Sea, northerly winds will reach up to 6 Beaufort.

In Attica, expect sunny weather with temperatures between 25-38°C. Northwest winds will blow at 5-6 Beaufort in the surrounding sea areas.

Thessaloniki will experience a few local clouds and significant intervals of sunshine. Temperatures will range from 22-36°C, with southerly winds blowing at up to 3 Beaufort in the Thermaic Gulf.
