Greece’s heatwave continues for the 15th day today, Monday July 22, with hot and sunny weather forecast for most of the country, a high risk of fires, with storms seen from tomorrow as the weather breaks.

With the exception of central and eastern central Greece, Thessaly, Macedonia and Thrace, which may see clouds roll in from the afternoon, Greece will be sunny today.

Temperatures will range between 37 to 39 degrees in the west and Ionian islands, 38-40 in the north, 41 in the east, and between 36-38 in the Aegean.

Yesterday, the highest temperature was recorded in Stylida, Phtiotis where it reached 42.1 degrees Celsius. Thebes was not far off, with sensors reading 42.1 degrees.

Fortunately, the hot weather is expected to gradually ease from tomorrow, but there is a concern that this will result in extreme storms.

Today in Athens temperatures will hover around 39-40 degrees Celsius with southerlies over the Saronic gulf up to 4 Beaufort.

Thessaloniki is forecast to reach 38 degrees with winds in the Thermaic Gulf of up to 4 Beaufort.
