Weather Forecast: January 31st

The forecast of snowfall may have missed the mark, but hurricane-like winds are sweeping through the country

Restrictions are still in place for most of the routes out of the ports of Rafina, Piraeus and Lavrio, due to the high north winds blowing at 9 points on the Beaufort scale in the Aegean. The phenomena are expected to subside later in the day.

For the islands of the Argo-Saronic Gulf, where the islands of Hydra, Aegina, Poros, Nisis Plateia are, transits are only made by closed-type ships.

Come the afternoon, the storm “Avgi” is expected to subside. Rain however is forecasted in the eastern mainland, the Sporades islands, Evia, the eastern Peloponnese, the Cyclades, and Crete.

Snowfall is already receding in the mountainous and semi-mountainous regions of the eastern mainland, Evia, the Attica region, and the northern and eastern Peloponnese, and it is expected to stop completely by noon. In Crete, heavy snowfall will continue in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas until the evening.
