The weather in Greece will be variable on Friday, as a 48-hr cold front creeps towards the country, expected to hit over the weekend.
According to the latest forecast data, rain will occur in the central and southern Peloponnese, as well as in western and northern Thessaly.
In the evening, the weather will deteriorate in areas of Macedonia and the Cyclades.
In Attica, few clouds and longer intervals with sunshine are expected. The temperature will range from 11 to 22 degrees Celsius, while winds will blow up to 4-5 Beaufort in the surrounding sea areas.
In Thessaloniki, the weather will be unstable, with the temperature ranging from 7 to 18 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow up to 5-6 Beaufort in the Thermaikos.
The Weekend Ahead
Temperatures are expected to drop abruptly from Saturday onwards as a cold front moves into Greece.
Meteorologists are forecasting a sudden drop in temperatures from weeklong highs of 22 degrees Celsius on Friday down to a high of 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The national weather service is also forecasting gale force winds (9+ Beaufort) for the weekend.
Snow fall is also expected in mountainous areas where temperatures are set to drop to below zero. Meanwhile, gale force winds are expected to affect ferry services and coastal transport.
The seasonally warm temperatures and southerly winds are expected to continue into Friday. Temperatures are set to rise on Tuesday as winds die down.
