Two wildfires are currently burning through forested land on the island of Euboea (Evia).
According to local media, the first fire broke out early on Saturday in the Tsakei village of the Mesochoria settlement.
Shortly after, a second fire ignited in the nearby village of Zarakes, in another stretch of forest.

A group of 56 firefighters with one ground team and 21 fire engines from the nearby towns of Karystos, Aliveri and Chalkida, as well as 10 aircrafts are at the two scenes trying to contain the blazes.

Local volunteers and residents are also assisting.

It is reminded that an alert was sent out on Friday, warning of high risks of wildfires on Saturday in much of Greece, with the Fire Department being at the ready to respond to any incident.
