Traffic regulations will be in place for the 41st Marathon Peace March which will be held this Sunday, April 21st, in the greater Athens area.
Between the hours of 8:00-18:30 there will be gradual interruptions to vehicle traffic and parking prohibitions along the route from the historic town of Marathon all the way to the center of Athens by the Greek Ministry of National Defence.
The following municipalities will be impacted: Marathon – Nea Makri, Rafina – Pikermi, Pallini – Gerakas – Anthousa, Agia Paraskevi, Chalandri, Psychiko – Filothei.
Vehicles will only be able to cross the main roads impacted by the Peace March at specific junctures.
The Marathon Peace March began in 1963, initiated by Grigoris Lambrakis (1912-1963), to advocate for world peace and disarmament. The march follows the route of the Authentic Marathon and covers a distance of 42 kilometers including to the center of Athens.
