Police on Monday announced the arrest of another individual in relation to last Thursday’s bomb blast at an Athens-area apartment, which authorities believe was caused by an explosive device intended for a urban terrorist attack.
A 36-year-old man was killed in the blast, while another woman inside the apartment sustained serious injuries and remains under police guard at a local hospital. The identity of the victim has been ascertained, according to police, but has not been announced.
The latest arrest is of a 30-year-old woman who was taken into custody after returning to the country from abroad, reportedly from the Netherlands of Switzerland. She is believed to have been the individual who received the keys to the third-floor apartment located in a nondescript building on Arcadias Street, in the Ampelokipi district.
Police on Monday also released photographs of objects found inside the demolished apartment, including handwritten notes and diagrams allegedly showing bomb-making instructions.
A total of three arrests have been made, including of the injured woman.
The trio of individuals, along with the victim, has been linked by Greek authorities to so-called anti-state, anti-establishment movements.
Greek Police’s (EL.AS) anti-terrorism squad are scouring over evidence found in the apartment, such as two handguns, digital devices, mobile phones, sim cards, wigs, costume masks, numerous keys and the handwritten documents.
