Another case of teen violence in Greece occurred amongst minors at a school in the town of Kranidi, in southern Greece, leading to the arrest of a 13-year-old pupil on Monday.
The incident that took place at the Kranidi high school involved three 13-year-olds. As reported one of the pupils attacked his classmate during a school break, hitting him in the face, lifting him off the ground and attempting to throw him from a balcony.
This was prevented by the intervention of another 13-year-old classmate. The students were on the first floor of the school building according to sources.
Subsequently, the alleged perpetrator led the victim to the classroom and hit him again, this time banging his head against the classroom door.
As reported the victim informed his parents of the incident after school, who then filed charges at their local police station.
According to sources the alleged assaulter has been arrested and will be brought before the prosecutor in the city of Nafplio.
It should be noted that this recent act of violence amongst minors occurred at the same school where just a few days ago two teens forcibly shaved the moustache of a 12-year-old during the school break, while also stealing his pocket money.
The incident is yet another case of reported violence among Greece’s teens, in a long list of disturbing attacks, despite the government’s efforts to crack down on juvenile delinquency with the initiation of new anti-violence measures as part of a nationwide campaign for the eradication of violence in schools.
